Bayes Academy will be a Rationalist / Effective Altruist private elementary and secondary school in the Bay Area. I'm an attorney turned high school teacher and am in the preliminary planning and organization stages for this project, with funding from FTX Foundation. Planned opening: Fall 2025 for early grade elementary students. This school will scale up as this initial cohort advances until it enrolls grades 1-12.

Bayes Academy will be different from typical K-12 schools in the following ways:

1. A curriculum and culture influenced by rationalism and effective altruism.

2. Much more unstructured / self-directed time than in typical schools

3. Curriculum focused on: Basic skills (reading, writing, arithmetic); learning rationality; making and evaluating predictions; noticing confusion; learning to give and receive feedback well; assessing reliability of information; learning to manage free time and self-direct learning; investigating values (with a focus on learning about Effective Altruism).

I'll be looking for EA / rationalist teachers and stakeholders, and focusing outreach on EA / rationalist parents who'd be interested in sending their children to this type of school.
